Beetroot is a marmite kinda vegetable, you either love it's earthy goodness, or can't abide it, but wherever you stand, there's no denying that it's great for you.
This super bright blend of beetroot, apple and avocado is one of our favourite smoothies here at Hey! Holla, and it's bright pink hue is hard to 'beet'! Add some ginger and half a lime and you've got yourself a superfood smoothie!
Beetroot is renowned for it's antioxidant qualities and is a great source of folic acid, manganese and potassium, For this smoothie we juiced the beetroot, a Granny Smith apple, ginger and lime to make our a base liquid, we then transferred this to a blender and added our favourite fruit, the avocado! Adding the avocado makes the juice thick and creamy, and it's health benefits are also well known. It is high in the 'good fats' and has more potassium than a banana!
- 3 Beetroots (stalks removed)
- 1 Granny Smith Apple
- 2in Piece of Ginger
- 1/2 A Lime
- 1 Avocado
- 1/2 Cup of Water
Juice the beetroot, apple, ginger and lime. Transfer to a blender and blend in the avocado and water. Enjoy!
